Koh Tao is known for scuba diving, with clear visibility, inexpensive pricing and warm water. A Marine Zoning and Regulations Master Plan developed for the island has become local law. Diving is best from December to March and July to August. Great barracudas, green turtles, hawksbill turtles, oceanic sharks, rays and reef sharks are resident, and whale sharks are occasionally seen.
