Malta, Gozo and Comino are known for hidden caves and caverns, wrecks that have become manmade coral reefs, and sheer walls. Divers are asked not to penetrate the wrecks and to observe them from the outside, and a booking system through diving centres and clubs is required to visit them. The UCHU aims to continue opening sites for public access while protecting the authenticity and integrity of Malta's UCH. Diving is best from May to October, with April, May, October and November also good. Big reef fish, cephalopods, crustaceans, moray eels and rays are resident. Loggerhead turtles are seen from June to September, and frogfish, scorpionfish, nudibranchs, schooling fish and sunfish are occasionally seen. Seahorses and pipefish are rare.
